We came to your lights show in 2009 and then heard all the news surrounding the controversy of your magical wonderous show, and missed the update last year that you ended up beginning your lovely light shoe on December 18th, and we missed it last year, we were so very sad. I was very pleased to see your light shoe again this year, it was quite fantastic and I loved that you did Wizards of Winter. Keep up the magical work! Cant wait to try and get my little brother over to see your show

We were very sorry to see the lights at 60 Vista drive were not going to be up this year. You started a tradition for our Family when you brought this wonderful gift to our community so many years ago. I remember bringing my family to your house the first year you created the beautiful display and we we couldn't believe what we were seeing, that such a thing existed in our small community. We returned several times that same year, and every year you've done it since. No matter how bad everyone's day was, we always leaving smiling and giggling and even singing. Thank you for giving that to gift my family. You are a community treasure and I hope you are able to experience the same joy during the holiday that you have brought so many!! We hope to see you back again next year! Julie V and family

Dr Loggins, It is alwaysgreat to see your light show from year to year. I understand the extreme amount of time and effort it takes to produce a show as large as yours. I see all the great offers of people offering to help (which warms my heart). But I'm sure a lot of these people do not understand how much work it really is and that we (as decorators with lights to music) have to have things a very specific way (and that is vry hard to let others help us set-up). But I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and hope that we get to see a show next year!!

For all the years you went through all these setups I thank you. I have only seen your display for 2 years. If you need help of if you wish many of your posts show "if you need help" perhaps many of us would be able to help or take instructions. If I had the equipment I would do it here But I must say my front lawn is far from being as large as yours. May God Bless you and yours through out this holyday season and through out the year.  I moved to this area this year in Jan - have heard many wonderful stories and seen pictures on tv and all. I was so looking forward to see the lights this year, yet I just heard on tonight's 13 news that no lights this year because time is running short and you wouldn't be able to display. Is there anything I can do to help? Like I said I now live close and if it's bodies you need I can help and maybe able to recruit others to help as well. Please don't hesitate if there is anything I can help with.

Stopped by to see the show. Very nice job; you obviously take great pride and care in your setup and sequencing. I know the difficulties; my wife and I have done a display in Augusta for the last three years. We need to get together some time during the coming year and have a light conversation. Meantime you can check out our show at our web will link you to our YouTube videos. Or drive by 132 State Street in Augusta. Totally different building and site issues at our place. Merry Christmas, Darryl and Karen Zeleniak

My name is Karen, my family and I live in Lewiston and come to see your light show every year as a new family tradition. The 1st year you started this we came to see your show, and it has become a family tradition every year. My family was so dissapointed when we heared you werent going to be able to display your amazing lights this year. I was wondering if you had posted the problems you had encountered early enough, if others, including myself, would have been able to donate their time and supplies so that the show could still go on for all the children to enjoy. Next year, if any problems arise, whether it time, supplies, or money, if you could post it on the site early enough, maybe a community like ours could come together and contribute to help you provide such a wonderful service like the show you've delighted us with every year. Please, let us help! Your light display has brought so much joy to so many in the recent years; let us help you to continue to provide such a wonderful display of beauty and majic during the holidays. I hope you have a Merry Christmas from my family to yours. P.S. Do you have a Facebook page? If so, what is the name of the page? And if not, have you considered putting one up? Its fast, easy, free, and easier than handling an actual website. Sincerely, Karen Spearrin

Keep doing what you are doing! it is awesome to see and has become a bit of a family tradition over the past few years to come up and see your displays. I too am a veteran of the Army, serving in the mid eighties through Desert Storm and am constantly both amused and disappointed at all the talk about "rights". Most people don't understand what things may be rights and what may not be, and really don't care either way. They just want their OPINIONS upheld as rights. Anyway, I've always been bewildered by folks who complain about Christmas displays. I am not partucularly religious with regard to the holiday, but I do know what it means from a traditional sense. And displays of lights and decorations to show our joy and happiness despite hard times has always been something i have looked forward to. And you seem to know how to do it!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!  Keep up the good work. One of the things that makes the Holidays very special is the time people take from their busy lives to share with others. This is just another way to share the joy and keep the spirit to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas, the great gift given to others. I just love the lights and happiness of the season of sharing. You always loved the tree and lights. Kudos to you both and your neighbor. Don't let the negative attitudes stop you.

I agree with comment 223-I am so appreciative also, for all their hard work that goes into setting up this light show every year. Do you think a doctor has to do this? No! It's the passion and joy that he and his wife get from bringing joy to other people during the holiday season. Why do you think there are so many cars that visit each year? 1st--it's awesome! 2nd-people visit and keep coming back with others because it brings happiness and it's a FUN thing to do. I live very close by and I bring my family and friends every year--it's getting to be a tradition. Everyone loves it! I can not thank you guys enough--that is a ton of work your doing on top of your full time jobs. You rock! Merry Christmas to you!!!

I just wanted to start of by saying that I am new to the Auburn area, but my friends have told me about the awesome light display! I think it's a great idea! These people who want to try and stop people who love Christmas and enjoy viewing lights displays are wrong and actually rude! Why would people take away the spirit of christmas? Many of the residents of the Auburn/Lewiston area look forawrd to your Christmas lights, and it saddens me to see that there are such "Scrooges" out there in the world who want to ruin the Christmas spirit in people. Why not just go up to a 5 year old and tell them there is no Santa!?! Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing the lights for the very first time, THIS YEAR!

It seems to me that some of the people posting here have forgotten what the Christmas spirit is... Calling people names for believing something different from you doesn't seem appropriate. And (for those against the lights) if the lights are the worst thing in your life that you have to complain about... PLEASE consider yourself VERY lucky. There are certainly worse things in the world than having to deal with a bit of traffic for a few weeks. I would gladly trade homes with any of the people on that street.

You are going to make comments and pick someone apart for sharing his time, effort, money and love for xmas?? I would say you are jealous that someone has made something out of themselves and has paid it forward by the light display for kids of all ages.......Jamie you need to re-evaluate yourself and look in the mirror, because based on your post, you are the "narcississtic piece of s****."  What the f**** is four grand out of six hundred you narcississtic rich piece of s****. Seriously, pay for the extra money you cost auburn citizens, or else go back to where where you came from. I know you don't care about any of the people that make the pilgrimage up the hill to see your fancy ass display which I take in to be a show of your deep pockets. Seriously, I don't even live on your street, but I feel for your neighbors. Even though it's only a few short weeks out of the years, that is a few short weeks that ambulances, or firetrucks won't be able to pass through if anyone needs them to. Is a culdesac really the place for this? You must have meant for it to become a locally famous display, because who is going to see it other than your neighbors that you couldn't care less about?

I think its really sad that things have to the point where this even had be brought to a legislative level. I have been to see the lights a couple times, and i find them very inspiring in the holiday spirit. This country is about having the freedom to do these kinds of things. There will always be someone who doesnt like what you are doing, that doesnt mean you should do nothing. I will be very saddened if it gets to the point that this light show ceases. It has been ispiring to me and my family and im sure we are not alone. Thank You to the originators for everything you have provided for so many people!!!

I just have a brain and can figure it out, and if you really read my post, you'd get it that it's 2 neighbors causing a problem for a whole street. SELFISH? ENTITLED? That's what the doctors should have flashing on their lawn. And finding a bunch of lights a 'huge inspiration'? Really? It's not about "sucking it up"---in fact, if you like it so much, why don't you move into the middle of this upscale neighborhood and put up with it? By the way, I enjoy Christmas without inconveniencing anyone---or having to put up with people like you, G Huntley, driving by---thank goodness. Why don't you do everyone a favor and 'suck it up' and stay home? Merry Christmas!

As Christmas time approaches I can not wait for the treats, holiday cheer, and family time. But, I also know that with Christmas time comes a change to my neighborhood's schedule. I know that around Christmas time I can't get home after track practice, or have my friends over to my house. I know that every night I will not be able to leave my house. But, at least I know that I will be able to see some amazing lights. I really like those lights, but I do not like them enough to endanger mine, my family's, and my neighbor's way of life. I fear that one of my neighbors will becomes ill or an emergency. I know that one of my neighbors is pregnant and I hope that she will be able to leave her house if she needs to. I'm a resident on Vista Drive, and I want people to know there is more than holiday cheer happening on this road.

Subject:Are you really sure this is the best way to celebrate Christmas?
Your idea of Christmas as you describe it doesn't match up with mine. Decorating your home is something most people do. However, when your civil rights intrude on others and you don't care, you ARE being narcissistic. You seem to only care about the way YOU want to celebrate, even though that way is obtrusive and problematic to your neighbors---very selfish of you. You say it's never been an issue in the other areas you've lived in----would love to hear from THOSE neighbors where you used to live. There's no doubt that you should be paying for the traffic jam created by your garish light show. Maybe your neighbors should create their own 'disturbance' just to show you how obnoxious the impact is. Your suggestion about 'the best way to view the show' is ludicrous and you know it. People pull over, block the road, spend hours there, and leave when they feel like it with little regard for anyone but themselves. They don't live on Vista, so they really don't care. Playing the 'Scrooge' card is ridiculous, people. Living in that neighborhood means you get to run roughshod over those Vista Drive residents' civil liberties. I hope you will print this so others will see there are 2 sides to this sad tale: you, the boor who doesn't care about his neighbors, and the neighbors, who never asked for this problem and have to suffer through it while you get your ego stroked. By the way, I love the suggestion about blocking the street and only letting in the residents.

Subject:Where are the lights?
I went to see the lights in Auburn last night with my granddaughter and kids and for our disappointment the Vista Drive show was not there! I understand and respect the neighbors' concern but the community is counting on those lights! There were people coming from all over the place just to see the Vista Drive show at Xmas! My humble suggestion: What if they block that street during Christmas time, letting only the owners come in and out and let the walking people see the show and even charge for the city? Let's make money Auburn! Just a @1.00 fee per person, I have seen the traffic and I am sure the city would make at least an extra $30k at Xmas time on Vista Drive! I would not mind walking to Vista Drive just to see the lights and paying the fee! Thank you for delighting my family and I those years, hoping that we will find a better solution for the lights in Vista Drive! Isabella Cavendish Brosemer

My family and I have gone to visit Vista Dr for a few years. My kids really enjoyed going. We would make a night of it. We live in the Biddford/Saco area and I was bragging to my friend how beautiful this was, and she wanted to go. Well she was just diagnosised with Cancer for the 3rd time and just started Chemo, so I thought it would be fun to bring her here to look at the wonderful light display. As we arrived, there were no lights to be seen. It hurt me, because I wanted to show her something very lovely and beautiful to see. As for the way this country is becoming, we cannot celebrate christmas anymore, because other people that don't celebrate this beautiful holiday ruins it for the rest of us. You don't see us complaining of other religions on what they believe and what they celebrate. We live in a country of freedom. If you don't like our holidays on how they are celebrated, then go back to your own country and celebrate whatever you wish. Leave our holidays the way they are. This is once a year, and it's not hurting anyone at all. As for the patrol officer, why not get students who are studing to be police officers, donate their time as part of the classes. This would be community service. I hope that next year, I will be able to bring my friend back to see this beautiful light display. Good Luck

Wow, I have always enjoyed your light show! It just brings the holiday spirit to ones heart. When I went this year I realized what had happened and was so dissapointed! I mean nobody ever complains about Halloween decorations, so whats wrong with Christmas decorations!!!! Well, I'll be praying that people will just realize the real meaning of Christmas and let those who enjoy the decorations, like me (including your amazing light show) then just let them enjoy it!!!!!! I'm so sorry for all the trouble you've been through!! Thanks so much for all you've done!

Your display is so uplifting. It puts a smile on everyone that see it. I can't believe that there are several police officers that would voluteer to direct traffic. I can't believe just a command person could direct it. It isn't that hard to do. I pray that this can all be resolved. God Bless you for all the time you spend to make so many happy. :-)

I know how busy you are and am praying you find the time to put up your display. In past years you've started much earlier with the prep because there is so much to do. I know that you are aware of how many people are hoping you are able to put on the light show and that it has become a tradition for many families including my own. As a busy career mom I can understand your need to find the time, so I thank you for your efforts either way. I really do think, however, that if you asked for a volunteer crew to help with setup and help with crowd control, you might be surprised how many would be willing to help with no strings attached. Afterall, your light show is a big hit for so many! Here's hoping that you find more time :-)

I live about 45 minutes away and it is well worth the drive to see your display. I hope it can happen again. Thanks for all your hard work and Christmas cheer you've spread.

Okay, so the town wants $5000 to pay someone to direct traffic. Well, if someone directed traffic for the 25 days of December until Christmas, for 3 hours a night, that is 75 hours. $5000 divided by 75 is $66.67 an hour. I think that is a little much to direct traffic and as a Auburn resident, if that is how much we pay to direct school traffic and other events, I think that we need a new budget committee! That is way too much money for that job!

For the past two years your light display has been such a huge part of my daughters holiday cheer. (not to mention my wife and i's absolute enjoyment!). So very sad to hear about the Scrooge (s) in your neighborhood who would like to stop one of the last real, traditional, non commercial, inexpensive means of holiday cheer! We actually brought my family from Ireland by tonight to see if it was ready as we had told them all about it and it was one of the things they wished to see while here in Maine! I can say this, there are thousands behind you and only a handful of opposers. Thank you for all that you do for the community and especially the children this time of the year. It's good to see that there are still some old fashioned values at work in the world today! Nate, Claire and Annie

My mother told me of your display a few years ago after seeing it on the news, and I promptly picked her and my "matante" up and drove them to see it. It was inspiring. Last year, I brought my daughter and my mother. I've never seen my daughter so excited. I came home tonight and checked out the website to see when we could come again and read the awful news on your homepage. I am sad. I find it difficult to understand that in the "land of liberty" people still to this day try to squash freedom-it comes in all shapes, sizes and colors, but it's all the same. My last name happens to be "Noel" and yes, it means Christmas. So, from the Noel Family, Merry Christmas. I hope that someday I don't have to change my last name, too, as offensive as it is. Take care-and we look forward to seeing your lights display again very soon.

2009 was the 1st time my mother and I saw your display. My sister and I were not sure if she would make it to Christmas 2010, but so far so good. She just loved it! What surprised me the most was that she liked the ones that were peppy and had a lot of bass(which is totally opposite of what she usually likes). It's sad that people just can't leave things alone if it is not disruptive and I agree with a previous visitor, that it's because the light display and corresponding music is for a specific religious holiday. However, if we were to try and snuff out any of their religious traditions they would hurriedly advise us that it is a free country with free speech and so on. If we are not able to view your beautiful display this year, I look forward to 2011.

Last year was my first time visiting the light display. I lost my sister-in-law on November 11, 2009 after a horrific battle with cancer. I had no holiday spirit last year. Your display gave me that at a time when I needed it most. It was so beautiful, so miraculous to me and my sister-in-law would have quite simply adored it. My children were in awe and my husband who normally cannot tolerate traffice and being stuck in it was wishing we could stop and watch longer. I would feel honored to live in your neighborhood and frankly would want to join in this incredible gift you have given our cities. I pray that you are able to continue for as long as you want in hopes that my children can share this with their children. There will always been bah-humbuggers in the world....we need more people like you to remind us what this season is truly about. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and I wish you a truly Happy Christmas

It's truly sad to see that so many people have nothing better to do with their time than complain about other people's happiness. My family and I have been going to see your lights every year since we had first found out about them. There is nothing better than seeing the delight that it brings to my childrens faces the moment that we drive up the drive way and they hear the music. Last year I brought a young boy whose family didn't have much and wasn't very likely to have a Christmas. He talked about the sights for days and was ecstatic about what he had seen. I know that he will cherish the gift that you have given him just as much as my family does. In the past I left you a message saying that my family wasn't going to have much that year for Christmas, but your display was enough to help us remain cheerful. That is exactly what it had done. We had an amazing year that year because we didn't let the fact that we didn't have much get in the way. You reminded us of what Christmas was all about and gave us one of the most precious gifts anyone could have asked for. I will be bringing by another child this year, who does not have much, in an attempt to lift their spirit and show them the true meaning of Christmas. Again I ask you to please remember the gifts you have given many and keep those who do not have much this time of year in your hearts and prayers. Thank you all for your efforts and wish you a safe and happy holiday season!

I am so disappointed in the people who continue to try to put barriers on those who wish to bring joy to so many, in whatever form it may take. Personally, this display has been the highlight of my holiday season. How sad that we cannot celebrate together the real spirit of this holiday season, regardless of our actual religious affiliations, by just accepting this gift you give to so many. It is wonderous, and special, and you'll be hard pressed to find anything close to it. Would the be so irritated if it were a 4th of July lights display? Or it is merely because it denotes a Christian holiday that rubs the nay sayers wrong? I don't understand how people can be so mean, frankly. I am a Christian who celebrates Christmas, but I am thrilled by any kind of lights display, and I dare to say that your display, and that of your neighbors' can be enjoyed by all, Christmas celebrants or not. I would be traveling the half an hour to see it if it were a Hannukah, Ramadan, Kwanzaa, or Festivus light display. It's enjoyable not just because it shows a specific holiday, but because it is something different, that not everyone can achieve, and that makes it special. I urge you to keep your spirits up, and remember how much happiness you bring so many people, of all affiliations, and urge those who are scowling to see it for what it is...a display of light, of heart, and of joy; that is all. It is not an intrusion on your personal beliefs, it is an expression of heart, and I think that is something we can all relate to.

I am very happy to see that as a result of the city council meeting you'll have the option of continuing your beautiful and inspiring celebration of the Christmas holiday. What you do has such power at bringing families together and fostering a sense of community it is a shame that for a few on your block it seems to have the opposite effect. I sincerely hope your neighborhood can live in harmony and your tremendous gift to this community can be appreciated by all. Thank You!

Thank you so very much for the wonderful show of lights for Christmas. I took our 2 grandchildren last night, one is 4 and the other 19 months, and they were in awe! Ashton said "this is the bestest, bestest, nicest lighted house I ever saw!!!!" He was fully amazed at how the lights worked in the driveway, he thought those were really "cool". Reece just kept saying "oh pretty" and "wow" for all of it. It puts smiles on all our faces, and such joy to all! Thank you for sharing this spectacular lightshow with all of us! Merry Christmas to you and your family, and a happy new year. Can't wait to see what you and your neighbor do next year!!!

Mine is not quite up to 125,000 lights (a mere 10000) like yours, but I would say your show in years past has inspired me to do my own in Lisbon.
